Speaking of tea, here is a random yet genius little idea to re-purpose your used tea bags as seed starters! Supposedly if you place a used teabag in a shallow dish and keep it moist like you would with seed starters, it will sprout in no time. After it grows tiny leaves, you then plant the whole thing in a pot! Brilliant and nifty, isn’t it? I’m going to try it tonight. You?
Seems that we all love wearing plaid with jeans or stripes or even on its own, but how would you feel about wearing two or even three different plaid
patterns together in one fall uniform?
According to Madewell overabundance
of plaid is actually a good thing and we should take full advantage of it. The key is to stick to one
colour family and play around with scale. For every large-scale plaid, like a
big buffalo check, add one tightly checked tartan - ta dah!
Sounds easy and wonderfully unexpected,
doesn’t it? The question is, would you be brave enough? (I’m going to try the shirt + scarf combo at first). You?

"Before steel, before oil, before cars or guns or Coca-Cola, there was tea - one of civilization’s first truly global commodities, as well as one of its most enduring and beloved."
Whether you're a tea drinker or not, we all love to indulge in a cuppa from time to time, don't we? It's more than just drinking a hot beverage, it's the whole comforting ritual of sitting down, slowing down and taking in the aroma. Each time I visit my mom in England, she always makes a point of going for a proper tea and though I'm not a huge tea drinker myself, I see the beauty, the elegance and the tradition in it.
Recently, CNT created a stunning series of tea rituals around the world (with amazing descriptions) showcasing its history. Just looking at those images above make me want to start drinking tea more often...
Do you drink tea? Which is your absolute favourite?
Have
you seen True Story? Sometimes it's refreshing to sit down and watch a film without any preconceived notions, reviews or spoilers of any kind. This was the case with True Story, and it made the experience all the more exciting, intriguing and sometimes baffling.
As with most films that are based on a true story, for me it doesn't end with the credits. That's when I start researching and reading all the background info on the real characters, the real events, and this part is just as exciting as the movie itself.
The story is about a New York Times journalist
and a convicted murderer. It’s about their strange, co-dependent, yet totally
fascinating relationship that all started with a simple phone call and a stolen
identity. Throughout the film they seem to bond, help each other in a way, but you can’t
help wondering whether it’s one-sided, if it's all just a game, or do they actually trust each other. The multi-layered, complex personality of these characters is the driving force behind this captivating picture. Through
its twists and turns in the the end, the heart-breaking truth is revealed. Or is it?
So
if you’re in the mood for a thought-provoking true story, this film is definitely for you.
My friend Stella started a brand new job last week, so I wanted to do
something nice for her since I knew how stressed she was about going back
to work after having kids and staying home for a few years.
A couple of days before, I got a handful of cacti, succulents
and a pretty bowl from Ikea and I recreated Kaylee’s succulent garden idea. We
agreed to meet the morning of her first day for coffee (and a pep talk), so
I took that opportunity to give it to her.
Over the weekend, she called saying that the plant bowl ended up being the perfect first day of work ice breaker.
Everyone seemed to ask about it and the conversation just flew from there. I
love how something so little can make someone's life so much easier.
Ah, I haven't worked in an office setup for years now, but I still remember how awkward those first days can be. Do you work in an office? Do you still remember your first day?

Be still my heart! Whenever I think of newborn babies, I always picture them all delicate and fragile. So when I spotted this moving series of premature children and what they have become, I literally teared up. Red Méthot photographed a group of kiddos who were born earlier than expected, holding a picture taken at the time of their birth. To me, this simple yet moving idea symbolizes perseverance against all odds. Incredible, isn’t it?
...it should be a tweed coat, jacket or a blazer. It’s incredible how something so understated like a tweed
blazer can transform a simple outfit into a great work-wear look. I usually
wear mine with tees or sweaters and jeans but I fancy trying it with a
denim shirt this fall. Plus, not to mention, tweed is ideal for layering when it
gets super cold in the winter. Oh boy, I’m swooning, you?
I have a hairdresser’s appointment booked for Wednesday and I’m
tempted to go back to full lush bangs. Eek, as always I’m struggling to make a decision! I have a love/hate relationship with bangs. I adore the look, but it can be a handful to maintain, can't it?
So, I'm going to spend the first part of the week trying to figure out what to do, while lusting over those bang-licious images above. Do you have bangs right now? What do you think?
Ah, I love that Friday feeling, you? What are you up to this
weekend? I’m going for a Pilates class this afternoon and tonight Balazs and
I are going to play billiards with a few friends. (Btw: what’s your
fall series line-up? I need to discover a new series to watch). Dearies, have a
great autumn weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday morning. Fancy going
down the internet rabbit hole? Enjoy!
